“We are making a difference”

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Uganda and all of us at Bishop McAllister College & Bishop McAllister Anglican Seminary. The school year has passed so quickly it is ard to believe that we will begin the final term of the year in one weeks time. It has been a year of great blessings, victories and celebrations. But there has been also a sad note and that is the passing of our beloved Bishop McAllister.

The school year kicked off with the news that once again both the Seminary and O Level section performed very well in the 2013 National Exams. Both the students and Staff have made us very proud of their success and congratulate them for their hard work and success.

As always the first two terms of the school year are busy with activities, Soccer, Music, Dance and Drama, Scouting, Confirmation, Annual School Mission, Rectors Annual 5km Challenge, International Womens Day, and Athletics. Already some of the stores have been posted, and more are being prepared to be posted in teh coming weeks. Perhaps one the most exciting events that took place, reflecting the schools coming of age, was the launch of the Old Students Association, BIMOSA. We were delighted and encouraged to see so many old students travel back to the school, and to hear their stories of what the school means to them.

We have been so greatly blessed that we have been able to push ahead in many areas of construction. We were able to roof and close a third classroom in the Seminary in time for the arrival of new students. Most recently we have begun work on an extension to the Eagles Nest Dormitory. The highlight for many of us  though has been seeing the Tower and Entrance of the Chapel of St. John the Evangelist moving slowly but surely towards its completion.

On July 30th we gathered as a community, Theology Students, Secondary Students, Seminarians and friends of the College to remember and say good bye to The Rt. Rev. Gerald McAllister who had passed away in June. Bishop McAllister and his wife Helen, have for many years been great friends and supporters of the College, for which we are so very grateful. We continue to pray for Helen and her family, and we pray that Bishop McAllister may rest in peace.

I'm looking forward to being in New Bruinswick this fall (Sept -Oct), and hope to see as many folks as possible to give a first hand account of what God is doing at Bishop McAllister College.

On behalf of the entire College community I extend our heartfelt thanks for all your prayers and financial support. We are all so grateful for what God is doing through you.

 “We are making a difference!”

God bless!
