"SOARING TO GREAT HEIGHTS"

“We are making a difference”

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Uganda and all of us at Bishop McAllister College & Bishop McAllister Anglican Seminary. So much time has passed and so quickly since my last newsletter there is to much news for one letter. First the we are all well, and jhave just started 2nd Term last week. Students were quick to report for the new term, and excited to see their friends and teachers after the holiday.

Of course first term was extremely busy with its own traditional activities. Soccer, Resurrection Race, and a wonderful Easter celebration. of course in those early weeks soccer was what occupied everyone thoughts for many weeks. The team trained and played hard, finishing in 2nd place in our district (Sheema). We were proud of their achievement.

Lent Came early this year, and along with it our Annual 5 Km Resurrection Race. Of course I dont run as much as I use to (combination of walking up hill and running down hill), but the Headmaster, Canon Caleb Twinamatsiko, is a good sport, and always ready to lead the way. This annual event is a fun way to remind ourselves, of a greater race that we run in Lent and in life (neither race is easy) that brings a prize that does not fade away. Just the same all the winners were happy to receive their t-shirts, a token of a greater prize that awaits.

The Resurrection race climaxed on Holy Saturday. By this time one and all were thoroughly engaged in our observation of Holy Week. We waved our branches on Palm Sunday, we carried our crosses as we observed the stations processing through the local communities. On Easter Eve we obeserved of our first Easter Vigil. What a sight as the Easter Fire burned bright and more than 700 candles burned in the night darkness.  The school choir made their first attempt at anglican chant, and did very well for their first attempt. Finally with Easter Morning arriving with the sun shining brightly in the sky, and the Son shining brightly in our hearts we gathered to sing our praises, that Christ had risen!

Palm Sunday!

Good Friday!

Easter Vigil & Easter Morning

From Easter things moved quickly to the end of term, with exams beginning within just a few days. After a restful holiday, we are refreshed and ready to hit the books.

There is so much more news, but it will have to wait until next time. Please check out the latest updates on progress of the Chapel Of St. John the Evangelist. Tremendous progress has been made in construction. Praise God!

Last but not least please check out the article Introducing the Assistant Rector and Headmaster, Rev. Canon Caleb Twinamatsiko and his wife Hope.

On behalf of the entire College community I extend our heartfelt thanks for all your prayers and financial support. We are all so grateful for what God is doing through you.

 “We are making a difference!”

God bless!

Paul
