"SOARING TO GREAT HEIGHTS"

“We are making a difference”

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Uganda and all of us at Bishop McAllister College & Bishop McAllister Anglican Seminary. As we approach the halfway point of 2013, we find ourselves well into the second term of the school year. So far the year has been very wonderful to us, and we have so many blessings to count and for which to be thankful.

In February we welcomed more than 170 new students into the main school, and an additional 28 new students into the Seminary. The school without a doubt continues to be a busy place. Of course in the 1st Term the extra curricular activities were dominated by soccer throughout those early months. Both boys and girls teams played well, with the boys making it through to regional competitions. They are showing great potential for success in the coming year.

We were happy to see two new classrooms ready for use in the Seminary, and now fully equipped with new desks. And what’s more, as the result of a successful “annual bowl-a-thon” by St. Anne’s Sunday School in the Parish of Sackville there are new textbooks for the Seminarians as well.

The good news is that the blessings continued to flow. All the windows of the new Chapel of St. John the Evangelist have been donated, the first of which have already been put in place. What’s more sufficient funds have been raised for the construction of the Chapel Tower. We are praying that the work will begin soon.

Just as we were wrapping up the 1st Term with thankful hearts, God had one more blessing in store for us. WATER! We were fortunate to receive a grant through Rotary International, to have two wells drilled by an organization called Mission 4 Water. We were all pretty excited when we saw the water begin to flow. It has been the answer to our prayers.

“Praise God for all His many blessings!”

2nd term is now well under way now. Athletics has finished, and Scout competitions for our local District are now also over. I’m happy to report that both patrols that were sent representing Secondary and Primary won first place in their respective categories. They are now very excitedly preparing for the national competitions in August. Of course there is still much to come yet, with the “Rectors Annual 5Km Challenge” coming up in a couple of weeks (for which I’m doing my best to get in shape for) and the Annual School Mission not far off also.

One last bit of good news! For a long time now, the girls have been living in very congested conditions in their dorm “They have a Safe Haven”. But in the past few weeks’ construction has resumed on the first room of a new extension to the dorm, and will be ready for use by the beginning of 3rd term.

What can I say?

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Lastly, I would like to welcome Dr. Filip Sain from Casady School, Okalhoma City. Dr. Sain is with us for the summer, teaching mathematics. Already he has made a valuable contribution to the academic priogram here at the College.

On behalf of the entire College community I extend our heartfelt thanks for all your prayers and financial support. We are all so grateful for what God is doing through you.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Pray especially for …

1.     The Candidates. Those students sitting national exams in October and November. Pray that they will have good health and settled minds.

2.     Annual Geography Trip. Pray that it will be a journey for all the staff & students participating, and a successful learning experience.

3.     Scouts. Pray for the Scouts as they travel in August to the outskirts of Kampala for their competition, and that they will have a positive and fruitful learning experience.

4.     Pray for a successful completion to 2nd Term, and for the good health of all the staff & students.

Together let us give thanks for all He is doing here and Bishop McAllister College & Anglican Seminary, and for all the lives which have been touched and changed for the better. Thank you for your prayers, you are also in our prayers.

“We are making a difference!”

God bless!

Paul
